Sabbath observed by Jesus and the apostles

Today, many churches in the world that keep Sunday claim that the Sabbath has been abolished because it is the law of the Old Testament, and that it is no longer necessary to keep it in the New Testament era. Are their claims correct?

If their claim is correct, Jesus in the New Testament era should not have kept the Sabbath, and the apostles should not have kept the Sabbath either. However, the New Testament shows that Jesus kept the Sabbath and the apostles also kept the Sabbath. Let’s look at the case of Jesus first.

Jesus kept his Sabbath according to ‘his custom’. The saying that Jesus preached in the synagogue on the Sabbath according to his own custom means that Jesus always did it. In other words, Jesus, our Savior, continued to keep the Sabbath even in the New Testament Age.

Some claim that they kept the Sabbath before Jesus’ crucifixion, but after that, the Sabbath was abolished and the Early Church kept Sunday. Will it be so?
What about the deeds of the apostles who testified of Jesus as our savior even after Jesus died on the cross?

Acts 17:2 As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

Did the Apostle Paul keep Sunday worship? no. Following the example of Jesus, we keep the Sabbath for three weeks. The same thing happens in the next chapter.

Acts 18:4 Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

Here, too, the apostle Paul preaches in the synagogue every Sabbath, following the example of Jesus. Therefore, the claim that the Sabbath was abolished after Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and that the early church kept Sunday is also false.

As we have seen so far, Jesus kept the Sabbath as a rule, and the apostles also kept the Sabbath as a rule. Therefore, we must keep the Sabbath day holy, following the example of Christ and Jesus. Let’s keep the Sabbath together, receive God’s blessings, and go to the eternal kingdom of heaven.
