God prescribed His appointed times. We can confirm this fact through the book of Leviticus chapter 23. From the time Moses put God’s laws into writing with the Bible, the times for worshiping God have been known to His people.

Let us think about weekly worship. The prevailing practice throughout the world is to have weekly worship on Sunday. Does this follow the teachings of the Bible? The answer is no. Rather, God commanded to observe the Sabbath and said it would be a sign between Him and his people forever.

[Exodus 20:8-11]

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy… the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God… he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

[Exodus 31:13-17]

Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy….. It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever,….

In fact, no single verse in the Bible says we are blessed when we keep Sunday worship, but many say we will be cursed if we desecrate God’s Sabbaths.

[Exodus 31:14]

Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death;

[Ezekiel 20:13]

They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness.

Just seeing the Sabbath, the weekly worship day, we can understand the importance of following the prescribed times for worshiping God and not a time of our choosing. Sunday worship has never been prescribed as a worship day by God. Sunday worship is rather the time of man’s choosing.

Then, on which day do we have to worship God? What is your choice?

    God’s people keep God’s laws. The seventh day, the Sabbath, is God’s law that must be kept until the end of the world. The Sabbath of the New Covenant, which Jesus and His disciples also observed every week, is a sign of the generations between God and us. And this Sabbath is not Sunday, but Saturday, the seventh day of the week.
