The Mission of Witnesses

When God called us, He made us be His witnesses. In each age, those who were called by God became the witnesses and they were given certain mission as the witnesses of God. Let us find out who the witnesses are and what their missions are.

Leviticus 5:1 You might be called as a witness and take an oath to tell the truth. If you saw something or knew something but did not tell it, you are guilty of doing wrong and must bear the responsibility for your guilt.

Here in this verse we can see about witnesses and their mission. A witness is someone who is obliged to testify about the things that they have seen or heard. They must let people know the truth they have the knowledge of. If they didn’t, they would be guilty of doing wrong and must take the responsibility for the wrongdoing.

In any time and age, God called his people as witnesses and gave them mission of telling the truth to the people who do not know. They must let people know the true God and the message God gave for their salvation. When God called Prophet Ezekiel, God clearly teaches us about the mission of the witnesses.

Ezekiel 3:10 Then God said to me, “Son of man, listen to every word I say to you and remember them. 11 Then go to all of your people in exile and tell them, ‘This is what the Lord God says ….’ They will not listen, and they will not stop sinning, but you must still tell them my message.”

The witnesses of God must listen to the message of God and remember them thoroughly and tell the message to the people that they may know the will of God.

Ezekiel 2:6 “Son of man, don’t be afraid of the people or what they say. It is true: they will turn against you and try to hurt you. Their words will be sharp like thorns and will sting like scorpions. But don’t be afraid of what they say. They are people who refuse to obey, but don’t be afraid of them. 7 You must tell them what I say, whether they listen or not. They are people who usually refuse to listen!

People might be stubborn and they will not listen to the message. Even they can persecute the witnesses, threatening them with words. Or they can be harassed by the people for the words of God. However, God teaches them that they should not be afraid of them. In whatever circumstances they are, they must deliver the message for their own sake and for the sake of others. This was the mission of a witness.

In the time of Jehovah God chose prophets to witness to God the Father Jehovah. They were sent to the people of Israel and they were given the message of God. They taught people the true God and Savior Jehovah and the laws and commands of God. As in Jeremiah and Ezekiel, people of the time persecuted and mistreated them, but they had no choice but to tell the people since their heart were burning when they did not.

Isaiah 43:10 The Lord says, “You people are my witnesses and the servant I chose. I chose you so that you would help people believe me. I chose you so that you would understand that ‘I Am He’—I am the true God. There was no God before me, and there will be no God after me. 11 I myself am the Lord, and there is no other Savior. 12 I am the one who spoke to you, saved you, and told you those things. It was not some stranger who was with you. You are my witnesses, and I am God.” (This is what the Lord himself said.) 13 “I have always been God. When I do something, no one can change what I have done. And no one can save people from my power.”

They must go out and witness the true God so that people might believe in him. All the prophets of the Old Testament testified to God the Father Jehovah, obeying the words of God.

In the time of God the Son Jesus, Jesus commanded his disciples to witness to God the Son Jesus. All the prophets and disciples of Jesus obeyed the command of Jesus and they testified to Jesus in spite of all the persecutions and hardships they had to go through. They willingly accepted all the punishment, even the penalty of death which they had to bear as the witnesses of Jesus.

Today, God chose us to be the witnesses to the Spirit and the Bride. People in the world do not know what to do and whom to go to for the salvation. They are terrified and frightened seeing all the signs of disasters written in the bible. However, they do not know what to do and where to go.

In this age of the Holy Spirit, Father and Mother chose us and gave us their message. Now we have to go out and deliver the message to the people so that they may know and believe the Spirit and The bride who gives the water of life in the last days. Let us carry out the mission with a willing and joyful mind with the hope for the blessings in heaven.

Acts 4:18 So the Jewish leaders called Peter and John in again. They told the apostles not to say anything or to teach anything in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered them, “What do you think is right? What would God want? Should we obey you or God? 20 We cannot be quiet. We must tell people about what we have seen and heard.
