The Truth That Gives Us Freedom

2000 years ago, Jesus taught us that we are under the slavery of sin and death. Whoever is born on this earth is destined to die. Nobody lives forever on this earth. This shows that we are under the slavery of sin and death as he said. Then how can we be set free from the slavery?

To the Jew who claimed that they were not slaves to anyone and they were already free, Jesus told that they were under the slavery of sin. And also he taught them how to be set free for the slavery.

John 8:31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

He said that the truth was able to set them free. This teaching is also important to us. Since all men are under the slavery of sin and death, we are under the slavery too. Therefore, we must know how to be set free from the slavery.

Then what is the truth that gives us freedom? How can we be set free from the slavery and receive the forgiveness of our sins and eternal life? Let us find the answer through the teachings of Jesus.

John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

Even though we are unholy and ungodly because of our sins, we can be made holy or be sanctified by the truth. In other words, we can be cleansed of our sins by the truth, that is, the words of God. Also he said,

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.

Jesus Christ teaches us that he is the truth and only through him we can be forgiven of our sins. The truth that gives us freedom is none other than Jesus himself. When we put the two verses together, we can conclude that Jesus, who is the Word himself, is the truth which can give us freedom.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. …. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Apostle John teaches that Jesus was the Word or God, who appeared as man in the flesh. This means he is the truth or the words of God, that set us free from the slavery of sin and death. And this is the words of eternal life spoken by Jesus who is the truth: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.” Truly Jesus is the truth that gives us freedom.

Just like Jesus 2000 years ago, today the same words of God appeared in the flesh as the Spirit and the Bride. The Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother New Jerusalem, they are the Word or God who became flesh. They are teaching us the truth that gives us freedom. We have to listen carefully what they say and put their words into practice. Then we can receive eternal life according to their words of promise.
