God’s Will in Establishing the New Covenant

Jer 31:31-34 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.[“] . . . “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

God’s people must have the law of the New Covenant in their hearts. God promised, “I will be the God of the people who keep the New Covenant; I will forgive all the sins of those who have the New Covenant in their hearts.” Though people make promises and may fail to keep them, God never fails in fulfilling His promises.
Since God promised to forgive our sins only through the New Covenant, we cannot be forgiven apart from the New Covenant. Therefore, without keeping the Passover, there is no forgiveness of sins. Without the forgiveness of sins, there is no eternal life, and if there is no eternal life, there is no Kingdom of Heaven. This is why Jesus proclaimed the Passover as the New Covenant and eagerly desired to celebrate it.
Nevertheless, some people regard the Passover as a law only for the Old Testament and insist that is no longer needs to be celebrated even though Jesus eagerly desired to keep it. As they claim that the Passover does not need to be celebrated anymore, can we say they truly believe in Jesus? While claming to believe in Jesus, they reject the truth of salvation that He brought for all mankind. Regarding such people, the Bible says, :”They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him” (Tit 1:16). So, how can they call themselves true shepherds or even true Christians?

Mt 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

On Judgment Day when they call out to Jesus, “Lord, Lord!” He will say to them, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” This shows that they have no part with Jesus.
