Ark and Passover

Gen 6:516  The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord……………. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.

The story about Noah’s ark is familiar with both Christians and non-Christians. By the way, have you ever thought about how hard it was to make the ark which was the three hundred cubits(135m) long, fifty cubits(22.5m) wide and thirty cubits(13.5m) high? It must have taken a lot of efforts, time and resources and scientist estimated that it would take at least 40-120 years for Noah to complete the ark. What if God gave you an order to build the ark of the same size in the Bible? Could you take it without any hesitation?

Noah built it according to instructions given by God with great patience and faith and was saved with his family from the Deluge. The ark was the way of salvation in Noah’s times.

2 Pet 3:6-7  By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

The Bible testifies that there is going to be a great disaster to destroy the world in the last days and God also allowed us the way of salvation like in Noah’s times. We should follow it for our salvation no matter what it is, then would it be hard to follow it like building an ark?

John 6:53- 57  Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.  Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

Matt 26:17-26  On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.'” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. … While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Jesus promised eternal life through his flesh and blood, in which we can eat and drink in the New Covenant of the Passover (Passover means a disaster pass over those who keep it). In other words, the Passover is the way of salvation allowed in this age like Noah’s ark. There is no other way except for Passover as Noah and his families on the ark were the only survivors from the Deluge.

Fortunately, it is not hard at all to keep it comparing with building an ark, isn’t it? The Passover is God’s great grace to save us. We should take pleasures in taking it by keeping the Passover.

But we should also be aware of unimaginable sufferings and sacrifice Christ Ahnsahnghong and Jerusalem Mother(God the Mother) had to take to allow us the easy way to be saved.
